Please contact the Registrar's Office if you have questions regarding student loans. Most provinces prefer that you apply by May 31st to ensure your application is processed in time for the beginning of the next academic year. Students awaiting student loans, bursaries or scholarships must arrange personal interim financing until these funds are available.
Attendance is required at all scheduled classes or exams (including Chapel). Three or more unexcused absences in any one class will result in a failure for that class. 10 minutes late to class = Late. Two lates = 1 Absence. Excused absence forms can be provided to students for medical reasons from the Registrar’s Office.
At VBCI we are able to maintain relatively inexpensive tuition and dormitory fees. This is accomplished by involving the students in the day-to-day functioning of the College. Each student who lives on campus at VBCI must perform a work duty of one hour per day. These duties may include: kitchen duties, facility maintenance, office and administrative duties, and a variety of other duties. Duties are assigned at the Work Duty Coordinator’s discretion and are usually completed throughout the day, keeping evenings free for study and recreation.
We offer a computer lab that does have Internet access for students. Students are allowed to have computers with Internet access in their dorm rooms, however at this time it is only through dial-up. We are working on a high-speed solution for the dorm rooms, and will put it in place as soon as possible.
Students are able to hook up phone lines in their dorm rooms. It is the student’s responsibility to set this up with the telephone service provider, and to ensure that the Facility Manager is notified for access to the phone room.
**It is recommended that you phone TELUS (the usual phone service provider)
several weeks in advance to book your appointment to have the phone line installed
(visit www.telus.com for more info)**
There is also a payphone available in the lobby area for student use.
Each student in the 1st or 2nd year of their program is required to complete a 26-hour practicum each semester at the church they attend in Calgary. Students can serve in many areas, and more information is provided at the beginning of the year.
If you have any other questions, please call or email the Registrar’s Office for more info. We’ll see you soon!!!
